Pune’s Participation In Te Union Government’s Smart Cities’ Mission

The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) on Friday completed the last step at its level for Pune’s participation in the Union government’s smart cities’ mission. The civic general body unanimously approved the proposal for the first round of the competition.

“Pune meets almost all the criteria set by the Centre for preliminary selection at the state level. We will be able to pass the first stage very easily,” said Shankar (Bandu) Kamse, leader of the house in PMC.

In the first round — the city challenge competition — the state will score all its cities based on set criteria. It will nominate the top scorers as per the indicated number of potential smart cities for the second stage of competition at the national level. Existing service levels in the city are one of the prominent criteria for the first round.
