With Visakhapatnam turning into a startup hub of Navya Andhra Pradesh, the Union Government has decided in-principle to set up Centre for Cloud Computing in the city.
Under Prime Minister’s Narendra Modi’s ‘Standup Startups’ programme, encouragement to shared processes and data through internet has been identified as a focus area.
Dubey told The Hindu . Big boon The decision has brought cheer among the startups and young entrepreneurs. Cloud computing is a system of using remote servers being hosted on the internet to store, manage and process data instead of routing them through local servers or personal computers.
“Now everything is done through clouds as a cost and time-saving option including financial services. Once located, the facility will be a big boon to young entrepreneurs,” said Sayan Ganguly, COO of E2P Enterprises, a knowledge and big data startup venture.
The city’s IT turnover is estimated at Rs.1,800 crore to Rs.2,000 crore during 2014-15. Among big players, Tech Mahindra is readying to launch its phase-II project Wipro is awaiting clearance for expansion of its existing campus with Special Economic Zone status.
